how do i continue the game after getting two piano notes. only the chicken can go over to the new area (right of the memorial and spikes) and it cant do anything on its own...
as for the other blocked area (right of the pool with a stone blocking the way) +(underground right rope that serves no purpose) there isnt a way to use them at all
I think you're either missing that the chicken has a block type it can activate, or that the uh, badger? mole? has an ability you haven't used (which works at the top of a certain rope underground, for instance)
Very nice game, good job! Audio on point, great usage of the 1bit pack!
Is the area with the tombstone and the area to the right of it unfinished or something? I expected there to be some use of the floating stones, and there is no purpose for the human to ever reach the far right to make a rope, let alone let another form climb it, before having completed the game.
One "bug" I found was that the higher the human is when making the rope, the shorter it is, so if he's right on top of the anchor point, there is basically no rope and there is no way to repair this, bricking the playthrough
Simply astonishing. A stellar work. The Animal Well comparison is apt, you easily have something on that scale in you too. A marvelous hour of my life. Excellent work Iris.
What a first game, glad you won the first game price. It is so moody. The audio is very good, and I really love the concept. I agree you should tell people they can stop the spinwheel. It would be a pain not to know honestly.
sad i just found out about this game after the gamejam, honestly short and sweat and a 10/10, there is a funny interaction with the ropes that may lead to breaking, like.... if you cast a rope at the same level at the anchor it will be extremely short and unreachable, but aside for that, still solid
the only thing i couldn't figure out was the egg piano sequence i think you might have missed an arrow there. for the longest time i thought i had to break it somehow or something. but i guess i had to figure it out from the tune of the notes. Anyway very well made self contained short game. loved the experience.
I figured out I can stop the wheel naturally, in-game, and was pleased to figure it out on my own. I still have not beat this game yet but this is my favorite game in the jam (other than my own cause bias lol) and I will beat your game eventually, and I am grateful for the save feature.
a lot of people are struggling with this, i may have to update the description with a hint since i won't have time to change anything in the game before the lock happens. in essence though, pressing X will play a note if there is a note key pressed. you will know you did it right if a piano note plays.
EDIT: nvm i just pushed an update that hopefully clears up some confusion :)
Oh. Yes. Using "X" was not on my radar for that. Well, thank you--I'd finished the game otherwise, so with this I just had to go play several series of notes and I was all set. Glad to have officially finished it, because it was in fact fun overall. :-)
Ok, I replayed your game & I got it. Just finished it. Great idea & great game! This is one of my favorite submissions to the jam.
One weird thing: I'm on AZERTY keyboard, so to jump I press W. But for the piano, W doesn't work, and I have to press Z... it's not important, just thought I'd mention it.
i'm aware of the AZERTY issue. it's kind of plaguing me right now lol, because i feel bad for the people who had difficulty playing. i will push an update post-jam that should allow for more robust controls. maybe even a rebind option if i can. thanks for playing !
No worries, it's still playable on AZERTY. As far as I know, only France & Belgium have Azerty, and I guess most of us are used to the confusion WASD/ZQSD in these situations.
oh no, i've not encountered this bug before. just to make sure, are you controlling the keyboard with arrow keys and Z inputs? if so, what is happening specifically?

Congrats and good job !
would you ever consider making this for the Playdate? I think people there would love this game.
actually a really cool idea yeah!
I'd love this it'd be one of my favorite games
This is a little late but x is both required to play the piano, and closes the menu
yep. if you press x while no note is pressed, you will close the piano. otherwise it will play the selected note
im at a loss, i can do all arrow, but nothing with a press Z + X or Z left or any other direction together
Yay alt controls! Just finished. Amazing! So very creative and well executed!

Great game. Took me a while to figure out how to use the piano!
...it's taking me even longer. How do you use the piano?

I freaking love this
I like the idea & the vibe - very Animal Well-ish. I didn't get what to do with the "commands"?
"humanity always has a tool at their disposal"

I can't enter my name, nothing happens

The arrows give an input, and I'm on the letter G and then press Z (or W on azerty) it works, Enter appears and I can go select that to move forward.
ahh so it may be an azerty issue. i'll look into that.
Maybe, I don't know, that was weird, only the letter G could be typed.
I just reloaded the page and now it works. Maybe it was just a one-time thing, or I mispressed sth, not sure.
After resetting my save (by holding R), I could enter my name.
